What is Resurrection Church?

Resurrection Church is a new church being planted by Desert Springs Church on Albuquerque’s west side.
Our mission is to know Christ, make him known, and live in the power of his resurrection.
We hope to establish a healthy local church marked by faithful biblical preaching, meaningful membership, intentional discipleship, joyful worship, evangelism, hospitality, prayer, and a commitment to seeing more churches planted in the future.
Where will the church meet?

Resurrection Church will gather at:
5621 Paradise Boulevard NW
Albuquerque, New Mexico
The building is located in Paradise Hills, in the part of West Albuquerque where we have hoped from the beginning to establish the church.
The approximately 6,500-square-foot facility was previously used as a church and gives us an excellent starting home for worship and ministry.
When will Resurrection Church launch?

Lord willing, Resurrection Church will begin weekly public worship at Easter 2027.
From January through March, the committed launch team will begin gathering regularly for worship, prayer, training, fellowship, and preparation before formally covenanting together as a new church.
What will be similar to Desert Springs Church?

A great deal. Resurrection Church is not being planted because we are dissatisfied with Desert Springs. We are planting because we love what God has built there and want to see those gospel commitments multiplied in another part of Albuquerque.
Resurrection will share Desert Springs’ commitment to the authority and sufficiency of Scripture, expositional preaching through books of the Bible, meaningful church membership, a plurality of qualified elders, congregational worship, intentional discipleship, evangelism, missions, and the planting and strengthening of other churches.
What will be different from Desert Springs?

Most of the differences are matters of emphasis and practice rather than fundamental theological differences.
Some particular practices at Resurrection will include:
one shared Statement of Faith for members and elders;
use of the Christian Standard Bible in public preaching and teaching;
both male and female deacons;
weekly celebration of the Lord’s Supper;
greater use of historic liturgical rhythms in gathered worship;
outward-facing Community Groups;
and a strongly relational, family-equipping approach to discipleship and youth ministry.
